Hope Reunion
We had a great weekend reuniting these children. There were two other children that had to leave before we were able to take the group photos. I think everyone had a great time. They jumped right in playing and laughing. It was very interesting to watch them interact. All of the sudden they weren't the minorities, they didn't have to struggle to follow the language, they were with others who "get" them. Luke and Nia are already asking if we will be getting together again next summer.
We left home Thursday. We made it to Mansfield and saw a sign for Laura Ingalls Wilder homestead, so we decided to check it out. We had a picnic and looked around a bit then hit the road again.

We made it to Paducah, KY and decided to stay the night. After dinner we found a nice park and let the kids run off some steam.
Friday morning we went downtown and walked around the historic area and the riverfront. It was very humid and my camera fogged over, so I didn't get many photos.

On the road again, for a bit. We saw the KY dam and took another little detour to check it out. It was under construction, so we didn't hang around too long.
We found a nice picnic area and stopped for lunch. We walked around and the kids had great fun finding shells.
Finally made it to our destination! These girls were very excited to see each other!
Saturday morning we got up early to get in line to tour Mammoth Cave. The best part was we got a break from the heat! Once again I was having problems with my camera. It was so dark the camera couldn't focus well and wouldn't take the picture. I couldn't see that I had cut Theron out of the pic till it was too late. Someday I'll learn to work the crazy thing!
Saturday afternoon we had a birthday party for all the girls with a summer birthday.
Sunday morning we gathered to take a group photo.
Then enjoyed a picnic at a nearby lake.
Back to the resort for an evening of mini-golf. Then it was time for the sad goodbyes as we were leaving early Monday.
Thank you to all the families for coming. It was great meeting everyone!
