Kicking In To High Gear

When it looked like we might get to travel to China in September, I decided I better get busy making sure everyone had a bed. So I rallied the troops and we got busy. Tyler was moving into Tanner's room, and he needed a dresser. I found this one at the flea market.
After a little elbow grease, a few coats of paint, and some new hardware, we got this.
Tanner wanted a blue room, so we painted. I had previously bought the curtains with the plan of making the bed coverings. Since my time was running low, and I still had other bedspreads to make we settled on these from Target instead. Tyler was very excited about his new big boy bed! He made the transition to a new room very easily.

This is Theron's bed. I made this quilt a couple of years ago and already had the fabric to make another one (it was already cut out too). It was originally going to be for Tanner, and then it was going to be for Tyler, and now it will be for Luke. Frank made these beds when he was in high school carpentry. Over the years they have made the rounds through some different family members, and are now back with us.

Working on the new beds. What a great helper we had!

I had also made Nicci's quilt a few years ago. I had a lot of fabric left over so only had to buy a little. They aren't exactly the same but coordinate. Nicci gave Nia the top for now but will let her choose once she is here.

Nicci has also cleaned out half of her dresser and a shelf on the desk hutch for Nia.

Okay, I think we're ready now. However our travel approval hasn't come yet. With the October National Holiday and the trade shows, it is looking like we won't be able to go till late October or November. Maybe we can find a few more projects to keep our minds occupied!

You need projects? I was thinking of your curtains (in Nicci's room in Bristow) just yesterday, remembering how easy you said it was & trying to convince myself to go ahead & make curtains for the kitchen. You can always come here & do projects - you look WAY more moved in than I am!
