One Year

We met Tyler for the first time one year ago. We went to the Civil Affairs building to get him and no one was there. After finding someone to unlock the door and several phone conversions, we were told "come back tomorrow, brought wrong baby". We were quite disappointed. When we returned the next day we were a little nervous, but they seemed to be expecting us this time. We waited several minutes and then looked out the window and saw our new little guy being carried into the building. A few minutes later they walked in the room. Tyler was a little unsure of us. He was interested in the cars and toys we had though. When we left with him we went next door to a store to get a few things. As we were paying, we looked at his face and saw one little tear roll down his cheek. Once we got back to our room he opened up and started laughing and playing ball with us. He was very playful with us, but when we left the room he became very serious and would not talk to anyone. We also found out he had quite the temper. If he didn't get his way he would hit and scratch.

One year later Tyler has really blended into our family. He is outgrowing the clothes that we had to roll up when we got him. He still loves to eat, but has gotten a little more picky. He still likes noodles though. He only says two words in Chinese, one is for potty. He is learning his ABC's, counting, to ride a bike; all the typical American kid things. How blessed we are to be his family.
